...Sugar is the story of a woman who overcomes childhood poverty and abuse to become the mayor of Kaua'i. Then, as so many victims of abuse have experienced, she married the personality she was most familiar with, only to have history repeat itself. When she should have been at the height of her fame and glory, she found herself on trial for her freedom.
...When is it time to give up? When have you had enough? Those are the underlying questions that form the grist for this novel and the inspiration to keep trying for a better life.
